Silk for volume distribution, uncoated for foil-stamp work, Colorplan and GF Smith for the brand flyer that has to be kept. Pick by the room and by how long you want the flyer to live.
Silk is the high-distribution default. A5 leaflet printing on 130gsm silk is the campaign flyer, the restaurant menu, the food-market promotion. 170gsm is the sturdier middle for DL menus and marketing handouts that get re-read. Cheap leaflet printing has its place, and we will print 5,000 on 130gsm silk for the letterbox-drop run.
Uncoated card is the foil-stamp default. A5 flyer printing on 300gsm uncoated, foil-stamped, is the gallery private-view invitation. Holds hot foil, machine-creases cleanly if folded, and reads in the hand as a brand artefact rather than a campaign throwaway. The natural choice for the 200 to 500-unit private-view run.

Coated stocks at 170gsm and above crack along the spine when hand-folded: the coating splits, the ink lifts, the fold reads broken in the buyer’s hand. Machine creasing puts a controlled channel across the fibre line before the fold, so the stock bends rather than tears. A standard A5 silk flyer is effective. A flyer with a spot UV pattern, a soft-touch laminate, a hot foil logo, or a die-cut shape is memorable. Spot UV, soft-touch and die-cut run in-house at Camden on the same job ticket; hot foil is available fast in many options.
Spot UV is the cheapest way to make a flyer feel like a brand artefact. A selective gloss varnish, raised slightly off the surface, applied over a matt or soft-touch base. Pick out a logo, a tagline, or a pattern across the whole flyer. The contrast between the matt base and the high-gloss UV mark is what reads premium in the hand. Best at 300gsm uncoated or 350gsm Colorplan where the base has enough body to support the finish. Common on gallery private-view invitations, fashion-brand activations, restaurant rebrands.
Every colour available fast in many options. Gold and silver are the everyday choices for invitations and luxury brands. Copper and rose-gold sit well on warm earth tones for restaurants and natural-wine bars. Holographic foil reads as a stamp of authenticity for ticketed events. Soft-touch lamination is a velvet-feel finish across the whole flyer, pairs with spot UV for the tactile contrast that converts at private-view scale. Die-cutting cuts custom shapes, rounded corners, perforation, cut-out windows, all CNC-cut at Camden. Edge-paint and duplexing for the 600gsm-plus brand flyer that has to feel like a calling card. Most standard promotional flyers and leaflets are zero-rated for VAT in the UK. Exceptions include admission tickets, discount vouchers with a printed face value, and items where the writable area covers more than 25% of the surface. We confirm at quote stage.
A5 (148 x 210mm) is the default for campaign flyers, restaurant menus and event programmes, where you need room for image and copy. A6 (105 x 148mm) is postcard-sized, better for short promotional messages and till-point handouts. DL (99 x 210mm) is the standard for letterbox drops and envelope inserts. Handle the samples on the counter before you decide.
