Material choice

Which sticker material should I choose?

Gloss vinyl for outdoor and wet environments, matt vinyl for premium product labels, clear for the no-label look, paper for sheets and short runs. Pick by where the sticker has to live.

Printed sticker and label material sample
  • The outdoor default. Printed vinyl stickers on gloss are waterproof and scuff-resistant, rated around three years outdoors unlaminated on our solvent inks, and longer with a laminate over the print. The pick for equipment stickers, promotional stickers and anything that gets handled, rained on or wiped down.

  • No glare under shop lighting. Matt vinyl reads premium in the hand and photographs cleanly, which is why product labels for cosmetics, candles and packaging default here. Takes a soft laminate for wipe-clean durability without turning shiny.

  • The no-label look. Transparent stickers print on clear film with an opaque white base laid under the colour, so artwork stays vivid on dark glass, bottles and tinted windows instead of turning translucent. For full shop-front glass, our window graphics page owns the bigger formats.

  • The sheet-and-short-run workhorse. Uncoated and kraft-look papers suit wine labels, food producer labels and packaging seals where the label should feel like part of the pack, not a plastic patch. Metallic and neon toner effects run in-house on paper label stock for short premium runs, fast.

Same-day · Phone-confirmed turnaround

Can I get stickers printed today in London?

Walk into Mayfair or Camden with a clean PDF, or email post@cityimages.co.uk, and your stickers are ready for same-day collection or central-London courier. Sticker printing London jobs print and cut under one roof, so same-day includes the contour cutting, not just the print. Gloss, matt or clear vinyl and paper label stock, die-cut, kiss-cut or on sheets. No cutting die, no tooling charge. A single prototype is a legitimate order.

What counts as same-day

Printed vinyl and paper stickers in standard shapes and contour cuts, singles to short runs. Clean PDF, 300dpi, CMYK, 3mm bleed, with the cut line as a vector path if you have one; if not, we draw it from your outline. Files cleared, printed, cut and weeded for collection that afternoon.

What we ship next-day instead

Laminated stickers where the laminate needs to settle before cutting, long roll-label runs in the thousands, metallic and neon toner label sheets, and foil work through our foil service. Tell us the deadline on the call. Straight yes or no, no soft promises and no fixed-cutoff loss of the late-afternoon caller.

Collection, courier, or delivery

Walk in to 8 Avery Row in Mayfair or 23-27 King's Terrace in Camden and collect with the artwork check still warm. Book a same-day London courier on top, quoted per drop, or next-day tracked delivery for the runs that do not need to be in hand tonight.

Phone Mayfair020 7495 0421

Email post@cityimages.co.uk with the brief, the file and the deadline, quote back within minutes. One person owns your job here: the estimator who prices your work follows it through print, finishing and delivery, so nothing gets lost between departments. Cutting

Die-cut, kiss-cut or on a roll?

Every sticker leaves as die-cut singles, kiss-cut sheets or kiss-cut rows on a roll. The cut path is drawn from your artwork, not from a metal die, so any shape sets up the same as a rectangle. Walk in with the artwork and 90 seconds at the counter settles the format.

  • Die cut stickers leave as individual pieces, cut through the face and the backing, ready to hand out. The format for event giveaways, laptop stickers and anything that leaves the building loose.

  • The blade stops at the backing, so stickers peel off a sheet that stays intact. The format for sticker sheets and packs, fast hand application, and thin designs whose edges want protecting.

  • Long runs kiss-cut in rows and supplied off the roll, the volume format for barcode labels, QR labels and product labels applied at speed. Permanent or removable adhesive, white or clear base.

  • Multiple labels ganged on a sheet for short runs and mixed designs. Print a full range of product variants in one pass and peel as you need them. The everyday format for small producers.

  • Any outline the artwork can draw, contour-cut to within 0.1mm of the print. No die, no tooling charge, so custom shapes set up the same as rectangles. For cut vinyl lettering, fret cut and decals, see our vinyl decals and lettering page.

Buyer mix · The customer week

Who orders labels and stickers

In a typical week the label bench runs wine and drinks producers, food brands, cosmetics and candle makers, e-commerce packers, event teams and agencies. Each has its own material and adhesive default, but every job runs through the same artwork check at the counter.

W

Wine & drinks

Bottle labels on uncoated and kraft-look papers for small-batch producers. Waterproof vinyl versions for the ice bucket.

F

Food producers

Ingredient, allergen and branded labels on standard label stocks. Tell us where the label sits and we spec the adhesive.

C

Cosmetics & candles

Matt vinyl product labels that survive oils and handling, with a soft laminate for wipe-clean shelf life.

E

E-commerce & packaging

Box seals, packaging stickers and branded mailer labels. Printed to match the box, not fighting it.

V

Events & venues

Name labels, lanyard stickers and promotional giveaways for conferences and launches, printed and cut the same day.

A

Agencies & studios

Brand rollouts, campaign stickers and prototype runs. Singles to thousands from the same artwork.

Adhesive is the decision most briefs skip. Permanent adhesive grips for the life of the product; removable lifts cleanly for promotions and price overlays. Curved bottles want a thinner face material that will not flag at the edges. Fridges, damp cellars and ice buckets want vinyl rather than paper. Our label materials are standard self-adhesive stocks rather than food-contact packaging films, so labels sit on the outside of the pack. Tell us where the label lives and we spec material and adhesive accordingly.

Half of label briefs arrive attached to a bigger job. For hang-tags on garments and gifting, see swing tag printing. For the box the label sits on, see custom packaging. For floor stickers and floor graphics or shop-front window sticker and window graphics work, those pages own the bigger formats. Brief them on one call and the estimator prices the set together.

Product labels · Printed in-house

What do you print product labels for?

A product label is the packaging decision buyers touch first. We print product labels, packaging labels, personalised labels and promotional stickers for bottles, jars, boxes and mailers, on paper or vinyl, with a white or clear base and permanent or removable adhesive.

The label is judged in the hand, not on a screen.

Wine & bottle
paper or vinyl

Personalised wine labels and bottle labels for small-batch producers, distillers and breweries. Kraft-look papers or waterproof vinyl.

Food & ingredient
standard label stocks

Ingredient lists, allergen warnings and branded labels for food producers, delis and market traders.

Barcode & QR
rolls or sheets

Retail barcodes, QR campaign stickers and asset labels, kiss-cut in rows off the roll for volume application.

Packaging & seals
boxes and mailers

Box seals, tamper-style closures and branded mailer stickers that match the pack, briefed alongside the box.

Adhesive: permanent or removable Base: white or clear Supplied: sheets, singles or rolls Quoted per size + material

Paper labels read warm and craft, the default for wine, preserves and coffee, but they mark when wet. Matt vinyl is the working default for cosmetics and candles, oil-resistant and wipeable under a soft laminate. Clear vinyl with a white base underneath gives the no-label look on glass. Gloss vinyl is the outdoor and fridge survivor. If the product goes anywhere damp, choose vinyl. If the shelf is dry and the brand is tactile, paper wins the hand.

Digital label printing has no plates and no die, so ten variants of one label cost close to one variant times ten. Food producers version flavours, agencies version campaign drops, distillers version casks. We gang mixed designs on one sheet run and kiss-cut each to its own shape. Repeat orders reprint from the stored artwork with the same cut path, so batch two matches batch one.

Premium finishing

Metallic, neon and white ink label finishes

A plain white label does the job. A label with a metallic gold or silver mark, a fluorescent neon hit, white ink on clear film or a real foil finish is the one that gets picked up. Metallic, neon and white run in-house on short runs, fast; foil runs through our foil service.

Metallic gold and silver toner and fluorescent neon print directly onto paper and synthetic label stocks in-house, short runs welcome. It is toner, not foil film: a printed metallic effect registered exactly to the artwork with no minimum run, which is what makes ten metallic wine labels a sane order. Clear spot-gloss over matt stock picks out a logo or a mark the same way spot UV does on a card.

Colour printed straight onto clear film goes translucent on dark surfaces. We lay an opaque white base under the artwork, so the print stays solid on green glass, amber jars and tinted windows while the background disappears. Specify full white backing for opacity, or partial white for a deliberate see-through effect.

For real metallic and holographic foil on sheet labels and stickers, our foil printing service runs digital foil with no die and no minimum, same or next day. Gold foil labels for premium bottles and gift packaging are the classic order. Foil is a different process from metallic toner, and we will tell you honestly which one the artwork wants. For label artwork built from a brief, our in-house design team draws the cut line into the file from day one.

Yes. Walk into Mayfair or Camden with a clean PDF, or email post@cityimages.co.uk, and standard vinyl and paper stickers are printed, contour-cut and weeded the same day for collection or central-London courier. There is no fixed cutoff; phone ahead and we will tell you honestly what is achievable today. Laminated work and long roll runs usually go next-day.

Die-cut stickers are cut through both the sticker and the backing, so each one is an individual piece ready to hand out. Kiss-cut stickers are cut through the face material only, leaving the backing sheet intact, which is the format for sticker sheets and fast hand application. We run both in-house, plus kiss-cut rows supplied on rolls.

Yes. Gloss, matt and clear vinyl, printed in-house and contour-cut to any shape. Vinyl sticker printing covers everything from a single prototype to runs in the thousands. For cut vinyl graphics, lettering and decals, see our vinyl and decal printing page.

Around three years unlaminated on our solvent inks, and longer with a laminate over the print. Gloss or matt lamination also adds scuff and wipe resistance for stickers that get handled, cleaned or rained on.

A single sticker is a legitimate order. Because the cutting is digital there is no die or setup tooling, so prototypes, samples, personalised stickers and test designs cost sensible money. Short runs, versioned runs and repeat runs all print from the same stored artwork with the same cut path.

Both, and they are different processes. Metallic gold and silver toner and fluorescent neon print in-house on short runs, fast. Real metallic and holographic foil runs through our foil printing service with no die and no minimum. Tell us the artwork and we will recommend which reads better in the hand.
