Point of Sale Display Printing in London

A point of sale display has about three seconds to do its job. It needs to stop someone mid-step, hold their attention, and make a product feel worth picking up. That is a lot to ask of any material and print, which is why premium engineering and quality matters as much as the graphics.

We design, build and install custom point of sale displays from our production facilities in Mayfair and Camden. Not only flat-pack kits assembled from a catalogue but also structurally engineered displays built around your product, your space and your campaign timeline.

Custom Point of Sale and Display Stands

The display that looks perfect in a design visual does not always survive the journey to store, the first morning of customer traffic, or the staff member told to "just set it up." We solve those problems before anything goes to production, prototyping every structure, testing weight loading and stability, and engineering assembly that works in real retail conditions.

We produce point of sale display stands at every scale. Countertop units for checkout and till areas. Floor-standing displays for aisle ends and entrance zones. Totems and plinths for product launches. Dump bins for high-volume retail. Each one is designed around your product dimensions, the floor space available, and how long the display needs to last.

For multi-site rollouts, we engineer flat-pack builds that ship safely and assemble in minutes, no specialist tools, no guesswork. For flagship locations, we hand-build one-off structures that do things a flat-pack never could. The approach changes, the standard does not.

Die-cut and fabricated display props built in-house at City Images. Printed cardboard Christmas tree with hanging baubles, patterned Vespa replicas and a guitar, all CNC-cut and hand-assembled. The kind of work that shows what a printer can do when they have carpenters and a CNC cutter on the same floor.

Retail Point of Sale Displays & Graphics

Not every point of sale display needs structural engineering. Shelf wobblers, showcards, tent cards, shelf-edge strips, counter cards: these are the everyday retail graphics that keep products visible between major campaigns. We print and finish all of them in-house, from short runs of 50 to rollouts of thousands.

Where it gets more interesting is when you need the full package. Branded stickers for POS, point of sale stands, window graphics, floor graphics, counter displays and shelf-edge materials, all colour-matched, all produced under one roof, all shipping together. That is where most multi-supplier setups fall apart: the blue on the window vinyl does not match the blue on the counter card because two different printers calibrated to two different profiles. We eliminate that problem entirely.

If you are managing a retail environment across multiple locations, we can produce every printed touchpoint from a single production facility, and install it too.

Point of Sale Display Design & Engineering

Most point of sale displays fail before they reach the shop floor. The structure does not survive transit. The assembly is too complicated for store staff. The finished product looks nothing like the visual that got signed off. We deal with all three before anything goes to production.

Every display starts with structural CAD and a physical prototype. We test for weight loading, stability, and real-world handling, not just how it looks on screen. For multi-site rollouts, the prototype includes the flat-pack configuration and assembly sequence, because a display that takes 45 minutes to build in-store does not get built.

Our production team includes carpenters, fitters, electricians and 2D/3D designers working alongside the print crew. That means structural engineering, graphic design, print production, finishing and assembly all happen under one roof. No handoffs between suppliers, no gaps where specifications get lost or reinterpreted.

Exhibition & Trade Show Displays

The engineering behind a trade show stand is the same as a retail FSDU: structural accuracy, material selection, transport survival. The difference is the deadline. Exhibition builds work to a fixed install date that does not move.

We build pop-up display stands, modular exhibition stands, fabric tension systems and full custom booth builds from our Central London facilities. Portable display boards for a one-day conference through to 3-metre modular stands for Olympia or ExCeL.

Fabric exhibition stands pack into a carry case: dye-sublimation printed panels fitted to aluminium frames, wrinkle-resistant and machine-washable. Looks permanent, assembles in twenty minutes.

POS Display Installation & Rollout

We do not hand over a display and wish you luck with the install. Our fitting team covers the UK and EU, the same people who understand how the structure was engineered are the ones putting it in place. Wall-mounted, freestanding, ceiling-suspended, window-fitted: we handle every installation type.

For single flagship locations, that means a team on-site making sure everything is positioned, level, lit and exactly where it should be. For multi-site rollouts, we engineer flat-pack configurations that ship safely and assemble in-store in minutes, with printed instructions, numbered components, and a support line if anything is unclear. We have shipped 200+ identical units to retail sites across the UK in the same week and had every one standing by launch day.

One team handles the entire chain: structural design, print production, packing, logistics, installation, and post-install photography. No subcontractors, no third-party fitters interpreting someone else's drawings.

Why Choose a Single POS Display Supplier?

If you have ever managed a retail campaign where one supplier prints the point of sale displays, another does the window graphics, a third handles the lightbox and someone else does the banners, you know how that ends. Colour does not match between elements, timelines slip because one supplier is waiting on another, and you are the one chasing five different people.

We produce all of it under one roof. Point of sale displays, window graphics, floor graphics, lightbox printing, roller banners and pop-up displays, same colour profile, same production schedule, same delivery. One person picks up the phone when you call.

That is not a convenience pitch. It is the difference between a campaign that launches on time with everything matching and one that launches late with a lightbox that is a slightly different shade of blue to the counter display next to it.

Point of Sale Display Materials

The right material depends on three things: how long the display needs to last, where it is going, and how many you need.

We work across every point of sale display material, from cost-effective corrugated cardboard for shorter campaigns to premium acrylic, Perspex, and MDF also as display stands are popular for luxury retail; transparent, durable, and built to last. The biggest cost in any custom display is the initial setup: structural design, prototyping and tooling. Once that work is done, production runs and repeat orders become significantly more cost-effective. We quote per project because every brief is different, send us your specification and we will break it down.

We print on recycled boards, use PVC-free vinyl where possible, and run an 83% recycle rate across our production. If sustainability is part of your brand brief, we can specify materials and processes to match.

Material selection, structural design and print production all handled in-house.

Three materials, three techniques, one display. Die-cut card, vinyl wrap and printed backdrop, each chosen for what it needs to do. That is what material selection looks like when it is done properly.

FAQs

City Images London & International Printing Business Logo

1 /

What does FSDU stand for?

FSDU stands for Free Standing Display Unit, a floor-standing, branded retail display typically made from corrugated cardboard, Foamex, or MDF. FSDUs are used by brands in supermarkets, pharmacies, and retail stores to showcase products at the point of sale. City Images designs and builds custom FSDUs from our Mayfair and Camden studios.

2 /

What is a point of sale display?

A point of sale display is any visual merchandising fixture designed to attract attention and drive purchases in a retail environment. They range from simple countertop card holders to full-height freestanding units engineered for specific products. Common types include counter display units, freestanding display units, dump bins, totems, plinths, shelf wobblers and tent cards.

3 /

What are the main types of POS display?

The four main categories are paper and cardboard displays: affordable, fully customisable, ideal for short campaigns. Acrylic and plastic displays: durable, transparent, premium retail appearance. Metal and aluminium displays: heavy-duty, reusable, suitable for trade shows and long-term installations. And fabric or tension displays: lightweight, portable, used for exhibitions and pop-up environments. We produce all four from our Central London facilities.

4 /

How much does a custom point of sale display cost?

Pricing depends on the complexity, quantity, materials and production method involved. A simple strut card or tent card is a different job to an engineered freestanding display unit. Setup costs cover structural design and prototyping where needed, once that is done, production runs at standard rates. We quote per project because no two POS briefs are the same. Send us your specification or talk us through what you need and we will come back with a breakdown, usually the same day.

5 /

How long does it take to produce a custom POS display?

Simple printed POS such as showcards, tent cards and strut cards can be same day or 1 to 3 working days. Larger or more complex builds involving structural design, prototyping or specialist materials typically take 1 to 2 weeks. Very few jobs take longer than two weeks regardless of scale. If you are working to a launch date, tell us upfront and we will schedule production around it.

6 /

Do you offer design services for POS displays?

Yes. Our in-house team includes 2D and 3D designers who handle everything from initial concept through to production-ready artwork and structural CAD. Send us a brief, a rough sketch, or just a conversation about what you need and we will take it from there. No outsourcing, no delays between design sign-off and production.

7 /

Can you install POS displays?

Our installation team covers the UK and EU, working 24/7 when project timelines require it. We handle wall-mounted, freestanding, ceiling-suspended and window-fitted installations. For multi-site rollouts, we either install directly or engineer flat-pack builds with printed assembly instructions so store staff can set up in minutes without specialist tools.

8 /

What is the difference between POS and POP displays?

POS (point of sale) traditionally refers to displays at or near the checkout area. POP (point of purchase) covers displays anywhere in the retail environment designed to influence buying decisions. In practice, most people use the terms interchangeably. We produce both, from checkout counter units to full-height aisle displays.

9 /

What is your minimum order quantity?

There is not one. The production method changes with the job. A single hand-built unit for a flagship location is a different process to a run of 500 counter displays. What matters is the specification, not the quantity. Talk to us about what you need and we will advise on the most cost-effective approach.

10 /

What areas do you deliver to?

We deliver next day, tracked and signed for, anywhere in the UK and EU. Same-day delivery is available anywhere in London. Our studios in Mayfair W1 and Camden NW1 are also open for walk-in collection. For installations, our fitting team travels to site across the UK and Europe.
